On January 31st, 2024, I remembered it was the day I made my first $18 from the startup I built. I was so happy that I jumped around in my room, and I even told my wife that I had just made my first $18 from the internet.

1. Discover idea

• The idea came to me when I was playing around with DALL·E-3 in ChatGPT PLUS. I found out that I only needed to generate one image, but I had to pay $20 for ChatGPT PLUS.

• I thought that if I had this problem, some people might encounter it too. So, I set out to build a solution in just two weeks by posting a waitlist on my Twitter. That is when Testdal.com was born.

2. Posting my app on Twitter

• Before posting my app on Twitter, I reached out to some friends to get testimonials (i learned this from Marc Lou’s newsletters) to boost confidence in the app. Some of the friends loved it, and they bought it. I earned $11 from it.
  
  Then, I took a screenshot of the payment and posted it on Twitter. It's kind of going viral, and it reached 4.7k views, 55 hearts, and 7 reposts. For a small account, that's a lot with 333 followers at the time.🙂

After that, i’ve earned extra $2 dollar, i was so excited. Next, i searched for Facebook’s Designer group, and i posted on that group. I earned another extra $5, but i instantly got banned from the group.

What i have learned from it is that Idea does matter, but execution is also important.

3. In Conclusion

To me, i think nobody could define whether the product is working or not. It can only be defined only when i ship it out and let the users be the judge. Thus, I no longer overthink or feel paranoid about whether the idea is going to work or not.

I have an idea. I build → ship → launch → let users be the judge whether it is going be product market fit.
